A Special Message
The Margaret Oliver Ladue Foundation
To begin with, we wanted to once again offer our sincere & heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported us and The Margaret Oliver Ladue Foundation. We remain in awe of the amazing support we have received in so many ways, from so many people - family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and also from new friends & supporters we had never even met before! Our Foundation and its many contributions over these past six years would never have been possible without the dedicated & loving support of our "village" of supporters.
With that said, we wanted to share with all of you the difficult decision we have made to retire The Margaret Oliver Ladue Foundation over the next few months and to discontinue future events & activities previously sponsored by our Foundation - including our annual fundraising event in 2017. As you can imagine the decision to retire the Foundation was not an easy one to make, but we do feel strongly that it is the right decision for all involved. This website, will soon be retired as well on December 6th, with our Facebook & LinkedIn pages remaining for the time being.
The Healing Hearts Nature Sanctuary in Brimfield, MA -Our Nature Sanctuary property in Brimfield, MA will be sold to Rebecca & James Torteson with the proceeds from the sale going to our Foundation. Also, everyone who generously made donations in support of Healing Hearts will receive a letter offering a full refund in the next few weeks - that will also include everyone who purchased a handmade Healing Hearts blanket.
The proceeds from the purchase of these blankets were originally set aside for the expected development costs for the nature sanctuary. Since this project will not be moving forward now, a refund of the purchase price for each blanket will be offered to all who purchased a blanket. If a refund is declined, the funds will then be considered a reassigned donation to the Foundation. We ask that the blankets be kept and used well, as they were lovingly made from materials that were also generously donated. Please contact us by December 20th to request a refund by e-mail at email@example.com (please put "HH blanket" in the subject line of the email), or by phone at (413) 374-5252. If we do not hear back from you by December 20th, we will assume that you have chosen to have your refund reassigned which will be sincerely appreciated. All remaining funds from Healing Hearts will also go to our Foundation as well.
In the course of retiring the Foundation, all remaining funds, equipment, & supplies will be donated to other worthy charitable causes & organizations, in line with those we have selected in the past.In the meantime, we do have the following upcoming activities sponsored by the Foundation:
- CHD Cancer House of Hope's annual Night of Light Luminaria event on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at The Green at Storrowton Village in West Springfield, MA - where we have once again donated $35 for luminaries in memory of Margaret Oliver Ladue and others who have passed away from cancer.
- Our Foundation's annual Thanksgiving Day contribution. We received a $500 grant from United Natural Foods, based upon a generous recommendation from our friends at Better Life Whole Foods in Springfield, MA. Instead of preparing and delivering one Thanksgiving meal again this year for one family in need, we will instead distribute gift cards/funds to three families in need and to one nonprofit organization which provides meals & services to homeless families in need.
- For our annual contribution to another worthy organization or cause, we have selected Soldier On - which has a house dedicated for women veterans on the Northampton, MA VA campus in Leeds that is especially for women veterans. The program provides resident veterans with treatment and recovery from drug and alcohol addictions along with medical services. Stay tuned for further details and pictures.
Moving forward, we will continue to remember & honor Margaret Oliver Ladue and her legacy, as our loving mother & "mumsey", grandmother, wife, sister, family member, friend, neighbor, coworker - each in our own special ways over time. Mom is most certainly looking down from Heaven with her heart full of love & gratitude for everyone that made the Foundation that bears her name so special and for supporting all of its efforts which honored her memory & legacy.
We hope that this message finds you well and enjoying the beautiful colors, smells, and sights of Autumn
- and we send you our best wishes for good health & happiness, now and always!
